Dan Delaney Owner - Delaney BBQ
Dan is the James Beard Award-nominated founder of Delaney Barbecue, a Brooklyn-based smoked meatery that focuses on producing the finest Central-Texas style BBQ outside of The Lone Star State. His award-winning brisket, can be enjoyed nightly at Delaney BBQ, his Williamsburg eatery, along with a tight lineup of other delicious smokey treats. The restaurant has received numerous awards including Brisket King of NYC, Best of NYMag, and a NYMag Food & Drink Award. Daniel was also recently inducted into Zagat’s 30 under 30.

David Blend Editor - Thrillist.com
David graduated from UT sometime during the Clinton presidency. He was the very first employee at Thrillist.com, and will probably continue to work there until flying cars happen. He currently heads up the editorial team responsible for Thrillist's sponsored content -- if you don't know what that means, consider yourself very lucky.

Eli Cohn-Wein General Manager - Bark Hot Dogs
Eli's passion for making simple and delicious food started at a young age - He made his first batch of chili at the age of six (it was inedible but adorable). His love for food and the community it creates eventually led him to Bark Hot Dogs, where he continues to hone his cooking skills and neighborhood building as the General Manager of Bark Hot Dogs' Brooklyn location. Eli is a native New Yorker with the heart of a Texan (and a fiancee from Austin to prove it!)

Jamey Poole Certified KCBS BBQ Judge
Jamey was born and raised in San Marcos, TX (home of the world famous Chilympiad!) and is a fellow Longhorn. As a certified KCBS BBQ judge, she travels all over the Northeast judging competitions, including the Hells Angels Long Island Chili Cook-off each April.  This will be her third year judging at the Texas Chili Cook-off-- She is a proud Texan who makes it her business to know great chili!

Lisa Fain Author - Homesick Texan / Executive Consultant - El Original Tex Mex
Lisa is the James Beard Award-winning creator of the food blog Homesick Texan, and the author of The Homesick Texan Cookbook and The Homesick Texan’s Family Table. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, Southern Living, and Saveur, and she is also a founding member of Foodways Texas. Lisa is also involved in the opening of Manhattan's newest tex mex joint, El Original Tex Mex. A seventh-generation Texan, Lisa currently resides in New York City.

Nell Casey Food Editor - Gothamist
Nell attended NYU before joining Gothamist.com as an Editorial Assistant before becoming Food Editor almost two years ago. She is an avid whiskey drinker, karaoke fan and lover of animals of all kinds. She is a prolific writer for Gothamist withover 2,000 attributed posts which you can read at Gothamist.com.

Quino Baca Chef/Owner - The Brooklyn Star
Quino grew up in a Foreign Service family, living in 6 countries prior to enrolling at The University of Texas, Austin. Cooking and grilling with his extended family inspired him to turn his passion for food into a career.  He spent ten years cooking in the Southwest and another five in New York City before opening The Brooklyn Star. The restaurant, named after his new home and his old one in the Lone Star State, closed due to a fire a few months later. In 2011, Quino and friends rebuilt The Brooklyn Star (furniture and all) using mostly reclaimed materials.

Siobhan Wallace Author - Blondie & Brown
Siobhan o-founded the food blog Blondie & Brownie in 2008, and co-authored New York a la Cart: Recipes and Stories from the Big Apple's Best Food Trucks. She recently graduated from the NYU Food Studies M.A. program, and currently works as an Associate Editor on David Rosengarten's The Rosengarten Report.


The Texas Chili Cook-off is presented by the Texas Exes - New York Chapter.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Texas Exes - New York Chapter scholarship fund.
